A brief history… On June 8th of 2002, the Hayman Fire (the largest wild fire in Colorado’s history) was started by a US Forestry Technician who claimed she was burning a letter from her estranged husband. Other evidence came to light as the investigation continued to her inevitable prosecution, but the damage was done and it was extensive.
Simplicity is always a good standard to stay behind. the simpler things are, the easier they are to fix and stay onto of, because everything requires maintenance of some sort. so if its easy to fix, and stay on top of it should in turn be reliable as well, right?
Im a big supporter of gear that is worth its salt, and I am even more a fan of timeless designs that have been improved over their life. Danner boots are classic gear. They are not the most high tech design with the most high tech materials, but they are built to last: a concept that has been lost in the modern world for some time.
A few months ago I posted a link to a preliminary article on the web about a company that decided they wanted to make "the best damn hoodie you ever wore". It wasn't a day later after I discovered American Giant that I placed an order for one of their new zip-up Hoodies. Five months later due to overwhelming demand, It arrived and I got to make some first impressions.
Knives and I have not had the greatest running relationship. When I was a kid my dad presented me with my first pocket knife. It was a cheap little buck folder with what I recall as an inch long blade, I progressed from there to a neat little gerber folder with a rubber handle that I promptly used (accidentally) to sever the top of my left index finger from the rest of my hand, at the wise age of eleven.
