In May of 2016, at 18 years old and still a senior in high school, my brother and I set out on our first major overland trip – a trip I had coined as the “New England Loop.” A trip that would, as Steinbeck put it, absolutely take me. In 4 days I covered over 700 miles of New England, starting in Massachusetts, heading north into Vermont, right up to the border of our friendly northern neighbors in Canada, east into the White Mountains of New Hampshire, into southern Maine, and finally back to Massachusetts.

I can not count the number of times I saw an old Popular Mechanics article or a print from the 20’s and 30’s about the future and how we’d have flying cars living in high rise Utopia Metropolis. Even in Back to The Future II, Robert Zimeckis from 1985 portrayed 2015 as with flying Jeeps and instant Pepsi’s. It isn’t hard to think that way – that such things were thought feasible and attainable purely due the the incredible rate of technological advancement from post Manhattan Project World War II and onward.
